Windows 9 for april (2015)

I'll be using Win9,10,11 etc..Same goes for Linux new distros too 🙂 ,end of the day they are all operating systems and nothing rocket science about them.


I'm already bored with my Linux and Windows ,never know I might get a new OS down the road that does give me a challenge,no the start button menu missing does not count lol ...

I use Ubuntu, Linux Mint,Zorin and few other builds already 😉 .


I think Microsoft could learn a thing or two from Linux over the last decade or so.

Do you have operating systems just for a challenge?
I have mine because i can use all of my programs and they work and i like what i have.
You should try mac osx its complicated at the beginning of the transition so you may like it

I use windows 7 mac osx mavericks Hackintosh and linux i like them for different purposes and i dont intend on changing

I actually use them all everyday and even build my own PCs(some overclocked) but even that has become boring,part of me misses the old days where you had to use your brain a bit more,anyway I guess its part of the modern times where its all easy and very far from rocket science.

I never liked mac OS even when I tried it,anyway looking forward to Win9 to see what that brings with regards to features and UI.

I guess my main point was nowadays its all too simplistic(not saying that is bad for users out there however).

True, Win 8 is a different kind of eff-up. It is more stable than WinME ever was, but is bassackwards in usability on the desktop platform. WinME had improvements from predecessors, it didn't foist unification with f***ing tablets.

WinME was the worst OS ever made by Microsoft IMHO,also hardware back then was far different to what we have now, so was not really surprising when Microsoft went with a hybrid OS for Win8.

I managed to avoid WinME because i stayed with Windows 98SE until Doom3 wouldn't work so waited for windows xp just to play Doom3

I went from Windows 98se to XP and it was like a breath of fresh air. Now I went from XP to Windows 7 I say meh. If they had DX11 for XP I would keep XP.

Win9 needs to fix a few things. I’ve used Win8.1 on touchscreen tablets and laptops and I like it, but it was not without its problem. Even with a touchscreen, when I played games or worked in Visio I still needed a mouse. Touch is not the end all be all.

Metro needs to be Metro, Classic needs to be Classic. Things like control panel in Win8 are not Metro touch optimized, but still in classic form. MS needs to completely separate Metro and Classic. If I launch Control Panel from Metro, a touch optimized version needs to launch. If I launch it in Classic shell, the classic version needs to launch. Both need to be available so I can use whichever I prefer, but they need to be separate while still offering the same functionality.

Classic shell needs to be optimized for mouse and keyboard only. Win 9 needs to wholeheartedly support desktops with only mouse and keyboard because touch monitors are still (unfortunately) too damn expensive. People and companies just are not buying them. Classic needs to look and act like Win7 (including the start menu) and needs to be able to run Metro apps in resizable windows.

I would really like to be able to buy an App once and have it come able to support either Metro or Classic out of the box. If I launch it from Metro it launches with a Metro style interface, and if I launch it from Classic Shell it launches with a Classic style interface. Unfortunately I think that’s a pipe dream for now.

Windows 8 is a strong OS. It is NOT that unreliable piece of shit WinME, nor even Vista. It’s an excellent OS that just needs the user interfaces separated and strengthened.

Only thing XP reminds me of is the long life span it had before Vista was released and all the security holes XP had ,don't get me started on XP before SP1 in the early days(XP was not a terrible OS but not a great OS either).

Getting back to Win9 I would like to see a whole new UI revamp something completely new and then I can read all the moan threads again 😉 .
Seriously I would welcome a complete new UI not seen before for 9.

I agree about XP. The underlying OS for XP is not acceptable today. It was built for a time when the internet was friendly and you didn’t have all the viruses, malware, and other assorted crap. That just won’t work today. Besides, the underlying Win8 OS is reliable. The only complaints I’ve heard about Win8 is about the GUI, not about its reliability or speed. Concerning speed, I’ve heard and experienced only good things about Win8.

Windows 7 with the return of 3D effects (paying for a DLL that should have been included is effing tarded) and the right-click power user menu on the start button, the spanning taskbar across multi-monitors and the improved performance including the memory management improvement and startup/shutdown times. That would make 9 a winner in my book.

I use keyboard and mouse since DOS 6.22 to Win8 and probably for next twenty years ,GUI wise not bothered but something new would be refreshing again,I don't mind to be honest so I guess wait and see what happens with Win9 🙂 .

I'll say more customisation options for the user on 9,I do like customising all my operating systems,also if Microsoft want to stay with hybrid OS or Metro that's fine but more improvements,customisation would be welcome by me,hopefully they will throw gamers a new bone as well in 9.
