I decided to just do an upgrade install on my media machine running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit as a test. This is a machine I use to watch TV, play music etc while gaming or doing other stuff on my main PC. I have a Hauppauge HD-PVR hooked up to it that I have a DirecTV HD receiver plugged into for TV. Since I had an empty OCZ 128 GB SSD that I was planning on migrating the OS over to anyway I decided to do that and perform the upgrade using it so I still have the original drive as a fallback.
I did that and then did the upgrade install from MS and when it was done it amazingly my desktop and everything else looks identical to the way it did in Win 7. The PVR software works just the way it did before and I have not run into anything yet that is not working as it was under Windows 7. If it weren't for the Metro stuff at login and no Start button it would be hard to tell I am not still in Windows 7.
