Windows 8 to Windows 7 using a new hard drive, how to install

I have an HP computer with Windows 8. I want to remove the hard drive, install a new hard drive and install a new copy of Windows 7.
What should I look for in the BIOS so that I can install Windows 7 on this new hard drive.

When Windows 8 comes preinstalled, it's easier to use Windows 8 itself to determine which (if any) of your UEFI/BIOS settings need to be changed prior to installing a different operating system. Once the UEFI/BIOS is properly setup, you can then remove the Windows 8 drive, install the new drive, then install Windows 7 as usual. This article details that procedure, and is the method I prefer to use when a client wants their factory preinstalled Windows 8 machine downgraded: How to Downgrade Windows 8 Preinstalled to Windows 7.
