Windows 8 stops audio when display times out

So this is a dumb bug. If you have the display set to turn off after x minutes, and you are using an HDMI audio receiver, when the display turns off the audio turns off too. This did not occur with previous versions of windows. It is highly annoying as I have to turn off the display sleep mode otherwise if I am playing music, it will turn off the receiver when the display times out. Anyone know a workaround besides just disabling the monitor sleep?
