Here's the scenario...

System partition not bootable. It happens, no problem right? Who's idea was this? (with Win8!) Previously in Win7 you could boot up with the Win7 DVD or USB drive, load driver (so RAID disk is mountable) and let Windows repair the installation.

With Win8 I don't see where you have the option to load the drivers so it cannot repair anything. Even worse if you use a flash drive to boot from (made bootable from the dvd to usb tool) the repair will "hose" that installation and the flash drive will no longer boot!

This is just silly. Fortunately I have not run into a scenario where restoring a disc image is not an option and hopefully I never do!

Unless there is something I'm overlooking here.

Yet another reason to steer clear of Win 8. Worst OS ever.

Been using Windows 8 since January 2013 on multiple machines with little to no stability issues. The problem with RAID is you have to load special drivers to get it to work, that only causes more headaches when things go wrong.

If the op kept his setup simple, he could boot off the windows 8 dvd and perform a boot repair with no problems at all.

RAID is obsolete, stop using it.

If there was ever a contest for the dumbest "advice" given outside of OT from a "long timer" here, i'd say this would be in the top ten if not five.

I would hope this "feature" of Win8 isn't also in Server 2012, surely you can't say RAID is obsolete in servers too!
