windows 8 problem, can't get program to start when windows starts

i have program set to start with windows but windows will not let it start automamticly when i start the computer. i have tried right clicking on the EXE for the program and set it to run as administrator but that did not work. any othr ideas on how to get it to run? the program in qustion is called speed connect, i use it to monitor my connection and tweak some stuff with it. thanx

Have you tried going to the run box and typing msconfig then go to the startup tab and make sure your program is checked? Is it even in the startup tab?

windows 7 worked by putting a shortcut in the startup folder, windows 8 changed all that.

On charms bar, do a search for Task Manager or.. ctlAltDel
Click on the startup tab
Click File Run New Task
Click Browse and navigate to the program you want to run
There is a create with administrative privileges checkbox. I did not check it. You may need to.
I'm loading Thunderbird, so this will start an instance. Notice though that your program is now in the Startup processes.
Re-boot as a test and it should work. At least it did for me.
did not work, ughhh.
