Windows 8 pro to 7 pro downgrade

Hi
I have been asked to look at an Acer laptop the user was having problems and formatted the drive before giving it to me to look at. I tried the recovery partition but kept getting a bsod.

My problem is it had Window 8 Pro downgraded to Windows 7 Pro from the factory.

How do I reinstall and activate windows 7, I have my own Windows 7 and 8 discs but with no COA sticker on the laptop im kind of stuck.

Do I install windows 8 first Then try to downgrade?
Any help would be much appreciated

Go into the BIOS and see what serials are listed. There might be one for 7, but probably just 8 (if Acer even does this).

Probably the easiest way (maybe not the quickest) is to register the laptop (if it isn't already) on the Acer site, and then order recovery media from them.

I get an error message saying unable to activate with this key.
I don't get any options like phone activation or change key.

yeah I'm using the correct disc it just the lack of coa sticker so i'll give the phone ago and see if I can activate that way or at least talk to someone.

Thanks for your help
