Windows 8 metro apps minimize on start

I have a computer where anytime you click on a metro app it minimizes to the desktop and will not open. if you click on it again it will pop back up for a second and then minimize again. This is an all in one touch screen computer, and there are no other monitors plugged in. Has anyone had this issue and fixed it?
 
I tried everything when I had this problem on a Surface Pro. I wound up just making a second account, transfering the settings & whatnot & then deleting the original. Took like 10 mins. Good luck.
 
I don't think it's minimizing. It's crashing, and because of the way crashes are handled, it can look like it was just minimized.

I concur with the suggestion to try a clean user account.
