Windows 8 is pretty good

windows 8 basically [messed you up] in that regard by moving everything around. You can't find anything where they used to be and forcing their vision of "most commonly used tools" into a ribbon while HIDING features, which is the worst part. Windows 8 is a disaster in terms of UI design.

I boot straight to the desktop on my laptop. No need to sign-in, etc. Installed StartMenu 8 and it looks and feels like Win7. If I want a Metro App (or whatever it's called now) like weather, I just move the mouse to the far right hand side.
