Windows 8 internet slow

Wow, and I thought we have poor internet connection in Dubai!! that's so slow man...

I thought the average user in the USA has like 100 MBPS down / 30 MBPS up...

I pay $190 USD for my package which includes Cable TV (sports package/Russian Package/Free to Air channels) + Landline Telephone + 50 MBPS Down / 10 MBPS up :

Don't want to go too far off topic here but the US has some of the slowest consumer grade internet. The internet providers here have a monopoly, and you'd be paying well over $200 a month for 100 MBPS down / 30 MBPS up for internet alone. The average here is actually closer to 30 down / 10 up, or 10 down / 1 up for the "cheap" package which costs around $50 a month.

30Mbs is actually quite high in the US, most people have 10, while a lot have even slower (like 2) and very few have higher with fiber (and they pay a lot for that).
Not only that, but it's also capped. My Comcast has a cap of 250GB/month.

As for Windows 8 slow internet, guess it doesn't matter now as OP went down to Windows 7, guess we'll never know what the real issue was.

That's because you're not very bright...as you've proven several times on this board.

The US is considered one of the slower developed countries in regards to overall internet speeds.

when it says drivers are up to date, it is referring to Microsoft's internal drivers listing, which Microsoft gets drivers ever so often from manufacturers. but it won't necessarily be absolutely the newest from manufacturers.

my company has been deploying windows 8 since it came out. we have had issues before with some "Microsoft" versions of drivers, as opposed to ones from the manufacturer. next time you install everything, look under drivers tab, and see what 'Driver Provider' is. is it from the manufacturer, or is it from Microsoft? look up the VEN&DEV for your device and get the driver from the manufacturer website.

from 8.0 to 8.1, there were quite a lot of fixes, so try 8.1 next time.

I am having trouble with slow wi-fi or wi-fi not working altogether on 3 different laptops running Windows 8.1 What i have discovered is its a combination of an Atheros 9485WB (all 3 laptops I'm working on have the same card), Windows 8.1 and connecting it to an older Netgear 3700 router. Your issue sounds similar to mine. My other Windows 7 machines (2 laptops and 1 desktop) work fine with it though...
