Is anyone else having this problem? After I installed upon initial reboot it locked up on me when the AHCI drivers are loading. So I had to unplug in SSD, go into bios, switch to IDE, plug SSD back in, and now it works.

Later, I tried to enable AHCI in windows using the registry edit, but it looks like things have changed.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I have a GA-EG45M-UD2H and a Plextor 128gb SSD. Had 0 problems with windows 7.

Hhmm… Well I guess the lack of responses means I'm the only one having this issue. Hhhmm...

I plan to try Windows 8 with AHCI this weekend, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Wrong forum! Win 8 Beta has nothing to do with memory and storage.

I just checked, my GF8200A motherboard that I installed Win8 customer preview 64-bit onto, was set to AHCI mode in the BIOS. No issues. Using a WD 500GB Blue HD, no SSD.

Edit: Win8 did hang during shutdown though, the keyboard numlock light stayed lit, the keyboard (PS/2) didn't power-down like it should have.

Sorry about the wrong forum. Didn't see there was an OS subforum.

I didn't have this problem on the Dev Preview, but with this latest version I can only use IDE.

So, no matter what it always hangs at 23% loading the AHCI drivers for the SSD I have the OS on. I've changed SATA Ports, cables, reinstalled windows. Still having the exact same problem. Not sure what to do now.

Have you tried to load the achi drivers during install? there is a button when you select the partition onto which you want to install for load drivers. you could try that

I know that you dont have to but seeing as you are having and odd issue, i would try that anyway

need to be very careful as to what you're loading here. I've tried a few variations to RST drivers so far and there are definitely glitches. Also be aware that the default Windows AHCI drivers have changed from MSAHCI to STORAHCI now.

There's probably something wrong with that bios setting or install procedure since I've had no issue running W8 on 2 different systems so far. I use the USB stick install vs the CD though, so that may be worth a look too.
