WIndows 8.1 update question??

I have had 8.1 for a while now. Is there an update to this? If so, how do I get it? Some say that it will not come on my auto updates. Please help me out on this. Thanks.
 
Do you have 8.0 or 8.1?

Run Windows Update until there are no more system updates, then check the Windows Store to see what's available.

if, at the top corner of the start screen, you see your username and a power button and a [needless] search icon, you are up to date.

its a pretty big update, about 900mb, so it should have been a noticeable install. i think it took 15 or 20 minutes on the surface pro 2s at work and those are fairly fast devices.
