Windows 8.1 new install

I have a 8.1 disk labeled "pro x64 Full Pre existing license and product key required".
How can it be used to install on a new system ?

When you first start the setup, you need to enter a default installation key which is not really a key you can activate, it is simply a key used for installation sake. then when you are in Windows, you can use your real product key to activate it.

Google it, default installation keys, there are a few depending on which flavor of Windows 8.1 you are installing (ie. Windows 8.1 Core or Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 8.1 Single Language, etc.)

The version I have is 8.1 Pro full x64 english.
So I need to find a default installation key for this exact version?

Just to be clear here, why do you have a disk and no key?

I have a disk with key but as I stated in the OP it is written on the disk that
"Pre existing license and product key required" so G73S suggested that I should use a default key when installing and later switch to my key.

Huh, weird. I'm not sure why the disc would be so oddly labeled then.

Anyhow, just install it normally. If you have an 8.1 key then you have no need to follow G73S's advice on this one.

I agree it is odd. anyway it installed without any issues into a new empty SSD and it appears to be activated.

That language is on Media Disks from OEMs . I've seen them accompanying machines that come with Win 7 Installed and sold with license and media for both 7 and 8 .. They usually get the keys from the machine during the install process.
