Hi,

ASUS Z87 PRO motherboard.
Could somebody please help me out?
I installed windows 8.1 from DVD and formatted the hard drive to GPT before the install.
Unfortunately windows was installed in legacy bios and not UEFI.
Is there some bios setting I need to change to ensure install is in UEFI mode?

Thanks for any help.

is there anything in your BIOS that says "CSM"? if yes, set it to disabled.
CSM stands for Compatibility Support Module....meaning that it is compatibility mode for older pre-UEFI BIOS.

You will need to reinstall the OS also

Will reinstall the OS on a new HDD.

What video card are you using?
Does it include a UEFI GOP bios firmware?
Unless you're using the onboard Intel graphics, the video card must include the UEFI GOP feature.

I'm using the onboard graphics.

Wasn't aware that an external graphics card needs UEFI GOP bios firmware.

Thanks.
