Windows 8.1 double click / no-click problems?

It's Not Lupus

Ever since upgrading to 8.1 from 7, I've noticed that my mouse and other mice I tested have a random tendency to do a double click instead of a single. I've also noticed some clicks don't register, usually when the cursor is in motion.

What's the deal? Does anyone else have these issues?

Are you sure it's not just your mouse finally keeling over? The OS's click sensitivity isn't meaningfully different from Windows 7 as far as I've ever seen.

I noticed something like that, but in relation to an AutoHotKey script that is used for filtering multiple clicks.

It may or may not be related to your problem, but there's definitely a difference in how it behaves between Win 7 and Win 8.
