Windows 8.1, Disk Activity and Symlink

Here's my situation I put a symlink to d:\games\LoL in c:\ProgramFiles\LoL and I notice heavy activity for my C drive when playing League of Legends.

If the activity is caused by the game reading from d:\games\LoL would windows notice the symlink correctly ?

'cos right now I'm confused as to the heavy activity in drive C while I am playing a game stored in the D drive.

It might have been caused by swapping so I changed the swap file to the D drive. But I would be really surprised as the disk activity happens when there is no program running except firefox, League of Legends and the normal windows services. So the computer is only using about 40% of the 8GB memory.

The good news is that either your Symlink is there or it is not. Go to that location in Explorer and see what's up. If that symlink is there, then it just means that Windows performance reporting breaks down under symlinks to different drives.

Not sure where you are going with this.
Obviously the symlink is there though I double checked it after reading your post to make sure.
I manually moved the actual files from C to D and created the symlink myself. If it werent there the shortcut in start menu as well as other programs interacting with it wouldnt have worked.

Again: Windows is reporting activity in drive C while running a program stored in D but symlinked to C. Is it C drive or D drive, how do I find out for sure ?

If your symlink is there, then your files are on the D drive. The C drive would appear to be a reporting error.

Grab process monitor and see what files are being accessed, if you're super curious.
