Any type of driver I try to install on my Thinkpad X220, from Intel graphics drivers to the UltraNav driver and utility all fail. I get an error saying "Install failed" in some form from every driver, this happens when windows update tries to install the driver automatically, or when I download several different versions and run them as administrator. I've done a lot of searching online and can't find any solution to this problem. I need some help.

UPDATE: After days of intermittently searching this problem, I finally found a solution, it lies in services, and is outlined here. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...-data-is/81322c85-c552-4224-b737-d23d54f5bd1f

format your computer

when u get the welcome screen, ENSURE to turn off "Automatically get drivers and info"

also, when u run windows update, make sure you do not install any driver from there, right click on each driver update, and HIDE it

only install drivers from ur computer manufactutrer

Thanks but this doesn't help. I can't install drivers at all, through any means, I used windows update as a backup method but nothing installed.

I also tried installing through the device manager, and by disabling driver signature checking. In device manager I get an additional error "data is invalid".
