Windows 7 will not detect my wireless adapter

I really want to get acquainted with Windows 7, but to do that internet access would be nice. Every time I plug in my Atheros AR5007UG USB Adapter it is detect than after about five seconds windows says the device has been disconnected. I've search google for different fixes and drivers but none work. Also I am using the x64 version. Any tips?? Thanks!

P.S. If I could I'd use a wired connection, but this crappy apartment doesn't allow AT&T to run cat5 cable.

Tell your crappy apartment that AT&T needs to run "telephone" cable (which in this case will just happen to be Cat-5. They will fight less about it then.

Nice thinking.... I'll give it a shot

Yep I've tried those. I've ran the installer normally, under vista sp2 compatibility mode, and in the force unsigned drivers mode too, but windows keeps saying the device cannot run because it is unplugged?? I know the card works I am using it right now in vista. Whats strange is that when I first loaded 7 the card showed up as an unknown USB device, once I installed the drivers the card doesn't show up at all in the device manager. I checked hidden devices too and it isn't there either.

I checked the log and the only event that came up at the same time the device was connected was "PnPDeviceProblemCode". Event ID: 1001
