Windows 7 volume sliders un-tied?

Alright, so here is my problem. The volume sliders on my volume mixer are untied which means they change volume very sporadically. Also what happens is that when I set the volume to zero, either my headset, keyboard or volume slider, it still plays sound. The only way to solve this is to lower each slider down to zero, even though they are on zero. Does any have any idea how to re-tie the volume sliders to the master volume?
