Windows 7 upgrade over Vista?

Normally, upgrading is pretty bad compared to doing a clean install. But since Vista and W7 share so much of the structure, would an upgrade be ok in this case or is clean install still better?

A clean installs is always better.

Windows 7 may be based on the Vista code core but an in-place upgrade still takes more than 3 times as long to cmplete.

Do the clean install. If you are worried about having to reinstall all your applications, where did I put that cd ? type of thing, then it is a REALLY good idea to do a clean install since that usually means you are not prepared for a Hard drive failure either with backups and such.

Regarding this subject, with those upgrade deals floating around the last few weeks or so, is there going to be an upgrade version and a full version sold when it comes out? I've been kind of confused about this since I've seen the preorder specials on the "upgrade." Were/are there any preorder specials for the full version?
