Windows 7 upgrade installation question

I just got a PC as a gift and it came with Windows Vista.

I want to upgrade to Windows 7.

I want to buy and Download it. But before I start, I (1)want to know how big of a download it is.

And one big question. (2)If I download it, do I need to burn it to a DVD first? Or is there a way to install it without doing any sort of burn disk?

EDIT: Best Buy caries it for $119 so if I buy it there, there is no price difference than buying it online.
