Windows 7 Upgrade install disk space

PingSpike

I have an upgrade license from that digital river deal from almost a year ago for Windows 7 that I'm just now getting around to installing. I actually want to do a clean install but of course that isn't directly supported.

I did the install custom with no key, then run upgrade install over that and it took the key (haven't activated yet, but I forgot to enable AHCI before I started so I'm just going to reinstall again anyway)

I have a SSD so I really don't want to waste any more space than necessary on windows. I noticed that after I did the upgrade over the in place it was using 3 more gigs of space. Any way to get that space back? What is using up that space?

I also have a second 500gb drive I'm going to install to use for more incidental files. Is there a way to move the Users folder here (seems a lot of junk gets dumped in there without asking) Is that even a good idea? Any other idea for this kind of config...it's my first SSD.

Check to see if there is a windows.old folder on the c: which usually is the case for extra used space.

To move users folder, you cant really move the top level user folder(profile) but you can easily move the my docs, music, and such by right clicking on the folder go to properties, and location tab and click on the move button
