Windows 7 upgrade: clean install?

I have read that this is possible. That the windows 7 install will wipe the disk after it detects a Vista install.

But what about in the future if I want to install it on a new/blank drive?

According to two Microsoft MVPs, that information hasn't been released yet. There's lots of speculation, but nothing substantiated.

Hmm. Don't know whether to pre-order a Home Premium upgrade for $50 from Amazon, or wait and see what a Full version will cost me.

Well, if you have a valid Vista license and a Vista Install DVD, in the worst case you can install Vista first and then upgrade. That should let you do a "clean" install (clean according to MS' definition). It'll just take a bit longer than installing directly from an empty hard drive.

If W7 Home Premium is what you want, I'd definitely go for the reduced-price upgrade.
