I did post this in Security however for those of you that don't go there Avast 5 Beta has a new version out today ( 5.0.188),apparently you can even install over the old Avast 4.8 version,

It should be possible to reliably install this version over an existing avast 4.8 (or previous 5.0) installation. Actually, upgrading from v4.8 is a good test case and we would appreciate your feedback on how reliably it works.
.

Mine is still working great in Win7 x64,btw if you need download link then check my thread in Security forum.

Avira Antivir is my protection of choice. Its free, it updates all the time, I've had NO problems at all since I started using it. I don't mind the popup when it updates, at least I know its updating. Clicking OK doesn't really put a damper on my day.

I use Avira Antivir with my Windows 7 64-Bit as well. I used the tip that MadScientist linked to get rid of the nagging ads and now it works wonders, with no issues whatsoever. 🙂
