Windows 7 Theme For Ubuntu

I use docbarx with the mint menu in Ubuntu, but not all the Windows 7 looks. I just like having similar function between OS's I must use (I.e. task bar at bottom, menu that is searchable, etc)

I like Windows to look like Windows(pretty much the default layout), and Linux to look like Linux(default Gnome layout). I wouldn't change them back and forth if I could. When I'm on a Windows machine I expect it to look a certain way, and the same goes for Linux. I've also decided I dislike docks as a taskbar. I'll use them as application launchers, but I prefer a real tray to minimize windows to.

This looks good im going to try it out on my Mint install, some hardcore linux users poo poo at such things but I think its a good thing.

I agree, customization is one of Linux's big attractions. I'm not a big fan of the Win7 style, but a lot of people like it.

For kicks, I may download the package, and see if I can Ubuntufy it. Keep the general look, but replace all window references with Ubuntu logos, and styles(Start menu and whatnot). Make it look just like Win7 at a quick glance, but not when someone really looks at it. I wouldn't use it for my reasons above, but it might be fun to do.

IMO the new "Equinox" themes with the "Faenza" icons is the nicest Ubuntu theme. I find that the W7 themes don't suit Ubuntu well. The Mac ones look nice though.

I like the older Ubuntu themes. I'm currently using DarkLooks with the Gion icon set...

What I'm using right now is the "Moomex" theme for my controls, and the "Equinox" theme for the window decoration. It looks pretty sweet. I'll post a screenshot when I get a chance.

I use Mint 8, and i like the way it looks. I like the look of Win 7 too but i wouldnt want Mint to look like Win 7. Just my preference.

That REALLY depends on what you mean by default because that varies A LOT.

Presonally, i prefer the Arch KDE defaults with some minor adjustments.

When it comes to Windows, especially 7 that is as customisable as it is unlike Gnome where you have to fucking hack it with scropts, i tend to just download a team and stick with that until i get bored with it.

In reality, i just go with a decent KDE theme and leave it at that.

I find it looks more like Vista than anything, but the window decorations are unique IMO.

I've converted to using the MacOSX Tiger theme for my controls, along with the blue glassy equinox window decorations. It looks really nice. I'll post some screenshots later today.
