Windows 7 Taskbar Click Behavior?

Hello,

I never thought that I'd be posting on Anandtech about Windows... but here I am 🙂

Anyway, is there any way to make the Windows 7 taskbar function like OSX's dock when you click on an icon?

In practice, this would mean that if you click on your explorer window group, all of those windows would open up. I know that you can ctrl+click until all the windows appear on the screen but that's a bit of a pain in the ass. This seems like simple enough of a feature that I'm sure it's included somewhere -- do any of you dudes happen to know where?

Thanks!
David

Default behaviour causes all windows to stack within the same process. Could be a hassle if you run 1 application with mutiple windows but I use tabs in Firefox, MSN and the rest is single window.

If there is only a single window and you click on the taskbar it opens instantly just like XP does.

What, no one hear has heard of Windows 7 Taskbar Tweaker? I use it to do exactly what OP wants and it works flawlessly. It also has a number of other features I find useless but others will like.

If you mouse over a given icon and hold a couple seconds, you should get a small pop up image of each window for the given application. You may then directly choose the one you want.

I do a LOT of multi-tasking... for example, if I'm working on a website that has firebug open and I tab between Dreamweaver and Firefox I have to click twice on Firefox to get both the browser window and the Firebug window open. It's annoying as sin.

Thanks much, Rhonda, that was exactly what I've been looking for 🙂
