Windows 7 Student Upgrade question

Right now I am running Windows 7 64-bit RC but want to get the full version.

I am eligible to purchase Windows 7 for Students. Do I need to install XP over my current RC version first or is there a workaround?

Is the student version an Upgrade edition or the full version? I was planning to get the Professional edition.
