My wife should be getting a student discount key, and I have an OEM Win 7 Pro DVD... I assume that we can use my media to install Win 7 on her laptop with her key, is this correct?

nope, unlike Windows Vista, one DVD of Windows 7 contains only one edition. you would need to re-master DVD to get different edition - difference is one file that tells what edition it is... read more on winsupersite.com
