I read that this happens and people say wait, and while i have seen this happen it never took that long to proceed.

Could this be a bad burn? Or is expanding only from hd, since copying happen in the previous step.

Kinda sucks im out of town and this is the only disk i have :(

This problem is many times bad memory. It also can be other problems, like a faulty CD drive, but since bad memory mimics every other computer problem, I suspect bad memory.

start with the memory. (Remove a stick if you have more than one) and see how that goes. I had a memory issue on a machine, too. It actually would load the BIOS but wouldn't save any changes...giving me a clue that it was bad memory.

Some motherboards have an onboard memory check program. Run that if your board is so equipped.

it could be the ram considering i just installed new ram. But the install went fine before, it could be the media. I will test more when i get home, trusty ubuntu is working great.
