Windows 7 SP1 fails to download. Always at 18%. Code 80200053

This is so annoying. It downloaded to 18% then stopped, saying TRY AGAIN in red. "Some updates failed to install."

Code 80200053

Trying againa nd again and always it is the same. It starts at 15% and then goes to 18%, stops, the error appears.

Ideas? Talk about frustrating. :thumbsdown:
 
Doubtful. All the other updates were fine. They breezed by. But I am just stuckl and it seems it happens a lot from goggling. But no solution that I can find.

I would love to just manually download the thing into my download folder and then cloick on it to install, but the manual download center is impossible to understand. It lists multiple files...

I have the same thing happening, Gets to 18% then takes a crap. I am downloading SP1 .iso and making it into a dvd

The last 2 on your list are the standalone installers. x64 is the 64-bot version, x86 is the 32-bit version. If you download through Windows update, the download size is smaller.

I went through the same thing three weeks ago with that error. I think on my eighth attempt on day number two it got passed 18% but it was downloading really really slow so I canceled it. I also reimaged back a day before I tried downloading it through Windows Update just so things weren't messed up.

Just download the standalone installer and update that way which is what I did.

Well, I downloaded the nearly 1GB file and it worked. What a pain in the rear, but at least that is over.

But now other updates are not loading or installing. AARRGGHH!!!!! Ridiculous. WTF Microsoft?

Quite often after a major amount of updates, you should reboot the computer, even if they don't tell you to. Clear your temporary files and then try again. If need be, do it 1 update at a time. This way at least, you will know which update is causing the problem.
