Windows 7 Sleep won't go on unless the computer does it automatically.

Hello,

I love windows 7 sleep mode. All of my fans shut off and my usb devices turn off, (this never happened in Vista). However, I can only get my computer to stay asleep when it times out. If I press the sleep button, I won't touch the mouse and it sounds like it goes to sleep but then the dvd drive makes the same noise as when it boots up and everything goes back. Anyone have any ideas? If I wait 10 minutes it will automatically sleep no problem. Thanks
