Windows 7 sitting at black screen for extended time

Today my pc was on and I just had directv playing on it. The pc froze and had to be hard reset. After this happened my pc, after login, so shows a black screen with a cursor for probably 5 minutes before going to desktop.

I did a windows system restore back 2 days and that didn't help. Automated windows scripts run during this as I see the command prompts show for a few seconds. CTRL-ALT-DEL does nothing.

Any ideas?

Check in event log to see what when wrong.under system and application

I figured it out... I guess I must have had a power surge that knocked my server off at the same time so it was trying to map network drives and couldn't until they timed out.
