Windows 7 shows link speed as 100Mbps

But my computer has GigE and is connected to a GigE switch. I also noticed that, compared to Windows Vista, the transfer rate is much slower and unreliable (cuts off sometimes) when it comes to transferring files between Windows 7 and Windows Home Server. The exact same thing happens on the two laptop I am using. How do I make the connection faster and have Task Manager show the correct Local Area Connection speed?

You shouldn't have to do anything. As I just went through this with a co worker, I must ask. What PC do you have, and which switch & router do you own?

It is now 1Gps so everything seems fine. I hope it stays that way.

I've seen my Server 2008 show a 100 Mbps connection even though the network and all the other NICs on that server showed 1 GB. It turned out to be a bad network cable that'd lost its locking tab and was not holding tightly in the switch port.
