basically, i just upgraded my vista SP1 x64 to win7 7100 x64. alls fine barr a bug in vista that's carried over that somehow links the layout of the drives in my computer with my D drive for some weird reason. but that's a vista thing i think.

the main problem i have with this now is the lack of search options. in vista if you search for something you have a tickbox that ignores the cache and looks at what's actually there. win7 doesnt seem to have this.

i was listening to music on winamp and it skipped some files. the m3u file was listing some tracks on a diff PC which is now mapped on a diff drive letter (X as opposed to Y). no biggie, open in wordpad and search and replace. walla. done. open that new M3U file - same problem. It was ignoring the one i was trying to open and using an old copy somewhere else in the drive under users.

no problem, i search for *.m3u. problem. it only finds the one i've just edited. no option to search properly. i have to go into dos and from C: do dir *.m3u /w/a/s/p. thankfully that lists everything. the way a search should. removed the old copy from my users folder and winamp opens the right m3u now.

thing is, why the hell should i have had to go into dos to find this? i know someone will say "let windows index" etc etc, and i have but things change and windows at some point will be looking at an index that isn't a 100% and i should be able to do an old fashioned search that doesnt involve going into DOS ffs!

rant over
