Windows 7 Remote Assistance

Tried it with a friend today (which had formerly worked perfectly). Both of us are on Windows 7.

When using "Easy Connect" it simply doesn't connect and when using an invite it says that the password is wrong. Clicking troubleshoot tells both of us that we lack a public IP address. I'm positively certain that uPnP is enabled, at least on my side, and likely on my friend's, so it shouldn't be that...

Any ideas?

Have either of you ever installed any vmware type software? If so, it creates a virtualized "LAN" which causes conflicts with Remote Assistance. If this is the case, go to your Networks and disable the virtual LAN.

Make sure your PC clocks both have the correct date and time. That could cause a problem with a secure connection.

I don't think so, unless 7's included by default "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" is the issue.

Hmm, I'll look into this. We're four hours apart time zone-wise so there may be something to this.
