I feel ya. I just now had a bug with my bluetooth mouse. Computer came back from standby and the mouse wouldn't ever come back.. not even after a reboot. I had to remove it and add it again.

Also, when I have Excel 2007 minimized for too long, I have graphical glitches in my spreadsheet. I have to minimize and maximize again. So far thats all Ive run into.

The power management pisses me off though.. I want all 3 options when I click on the battery, not just balanced and high performance.

I have this problem with 7068 as well, but it doesn't fix itself until I close & reopen excel.

The release notes do tell you how to upgrade to 7077 if you want to. From reading their message it seemed like they wanted a fresh upgrade more for their own testing purposes at this point rather than because the software needed it. But, of course, any upgrade has a risk factor.

Here?s what you can do to bypass the check for pre-release upgrade IF YOU REALLY REALLY NEED TO:

1. Download the ISO as you did previously and burn the ISO to a DVD.
2. Copy the whole image to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive or a directory on any partition on the machine running the pre-release build).
3. Browse to the sources directory.
4. Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad.
5. Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7100 to 7000 (pictured below).
6. Save the file in place with the same name.
7. Run setup like you would normally from this modified copy of the image and the version check will be bypassed.

Btw, the Excel 2007 black bar at the top on minimize was fixed for me in 7077

It was running a pre-7057 Windows 7 when I chose to do an upgrade install. The upgrade worked, but it killed ALL of my partitions and now I've just got one 100GB partition. No more backup images on the 16GB partition and no more 4GB recovery partition. Wicked stuff.

I did a clean install on my desktop and it's working great.

Upgrade installs nuke partitions? That's a pretty serious bug!!!

7057 x64 for me sucks. It takes 3 minutes to find the network. It doesn't work with my fingerprint reader and it breaks standby and resume. Build 7000 was much better for me.


Has anyone used 7077? Any thoughts or results?

Did you by chance upgrade from Vista? If so, I have an issue with the fp driver, each w7 upgrade install uses the vista driver instead of the newer W7 driver, I have to go in and switch drivers after the install and then the device works fine.

7077 has been a mixed bag for me. While it seems my Excel problem has been fixed, my computer will BSOD coming out of standby randomly, and the whole OS doesnt seem as snappy and it failed to install a couple of drivers from Windows update (but everything still shows in device manager), I guess it could be my bad luck though.

*Edit: This was a clean install. Removed the partitions and formatted first.

I get the Windows Update bug as well but I've found 7077 to be the snappiest Windows 7build I've seen. I'm still using 7000 though to see if I catch any bugs or anything to report.

Has anyone installed Win7 on a compaq persario 1420nx ???
This is an older pc. It came with xp. Win7 installed smoothly and all hardware
seems to work except for the video. You end up with basic vga.
I think the chip is intel 8??. Doesnt seem to be an update or supported using win7 update.

Vista drivers usually work, try to find them using the hp website.

I found a way for those with a pc with intel 855gm video.
The link below is a forum where someone posted the actual
driver.

Then in win7 in device mgr go to your videio adptor which no doubt says VGA because W7 has no driver for the intel chipset.
Then update driver, but this only works if you force an update.
Just directing it to the unziped driver folder will say the VGA driver is already the best, and will not update.
You have to get to the HAVE DISK in the update procedure, then brouse to the unziped driver folder. You find an .inf file. Use that and ok the update.
WHen you reboot, you will have great looking video, not the win7 vga default installed.
This works!

The actual driver posted is a lot easier then getting the driver from vista (if you can), or messing around extracting the driver as mentioned in the forum link posted above.
