Windows 7 problem...

I installed the latest Windows 7 build available (Beta 1, 7000), and it worked fine for the first day.

The next day, I will open up IE8...and I get a "cannot display web page" error on every website, as if it's not connected to the internet. However, it is...because I can get onto Google Chrome and use the web.

Also, Gadgets that require an internet connection also don't connect...I didn't test if they did before when IE8 worked as well.

Any ideas?

Checked that. Also wanted to say that AntiVir says it can't find an internet connection. Weird. Programs like AIM do work, however.

Shh. I'm just wondering what could cause it. I'm going to reinstall it and take notice of what breaks after I install drivers and the like (really the only thing I've done).
 
Isn't Microsoft going to make Windows 7 beta 2 a free public download? Or, am I misremembering? I thought it was going to be available shortly.

I reinstalled Windows 7 (didn't have much on the previous installation), did everything I did previously...but I'm not having problems this time around.

Weird.

I was a beta tester for ME. I'll never do that again! LOL. I'll wait for the final product. My life is too complicated to deal with constant software issues. Let's hope that Windows 7 is better than Vista was at launch.

Windows 7 beta is better than Vista SP1. Logic would say performance would only get better, but I won't pass final judgment until I have RTM.

I don't get it... why would you beta test an operating system using a system you actually give a shit about? I'm using Windows 7 right now and I pulled the 320 GB hard drive out of my laptop and stuck the old 80 GB one back in to mess around with Windows 7. Never in a million years would I replace my stable OS with a BETA OS. I wouldn't even dual boot...

I dual boot.... But I use my bios to switch my boot drive so so neither OS's bootloader is aware of the others.

I'm doing it because Windows 7 is actually very stable and fully featured for being a beta.

I did have it on an old 486. But, you don't remember ME in the early beta stages. It was awful. That experience left a very bad taste in my mouth for immature OSs. On the other hand, perhaps my horrid moments helped Microsoft a bit. I didn't even get a share of stock for the trouble, however. 🙂
