Windows 7 problem with creating new User account

I have a HTPC running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. From a Administrator account I created a new Standard account with a password. But when I tried to login to the new account I got the following error message: "This User Profile failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded". Following Microsoft's recommendation (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215) I tried deleting the User account and creating a new one but the same problem occured. I also tried creating a new Standard user account without a password and again got the same error message. I am unfamiliar with editing the Registry and have heard you can really screw up your computer so I didn't try that fix.

If you are sure that is your problem (in the link) did you try the Fix It? Even if that isn't your problem, it shouldn't hurt anything.

I tried everything in the Microsoft recommendation except editing the registry. The link to Microsoft's recommmendation is what I got when I put the error message "This User Profile failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded" into Google.

OK, well then, you are probably going to have to do some registry work. The good news is there is a youtube video that will walk you through it. The bad news is that the video is WAY longer than it needs to be:

Let us know how it goes.

I tried to fix the error message "This User Profile failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded" using the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215 and the instuctions at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d6zKj2iXL8 but they didn't work. I had two S-1-5 directories with the same long string of letters and numbers name except one of them ended in 1000 and the other in 1001.

The ProfileImagePath variable in the directory ending in 1000 had HTPC2 (One of the user accounts on my HTPC) and the ProfileImagePath variable in the directory ending in 1001 had WMC7 (The other user account on my HTPC). I couldn't find a directory path for my newly created user account. There was no S-1-5 directory for that account.
