Windows 7 Pro (DigitalRiver retail)

A month or so ago, I bought a student discounted copy of the retail version of Windows 7 Professional from Digital River. I had some issues installing to my XP Pro machine, but after several hours of cussing at my monitor, I finally managed a clean install via a bootable USB drive.

Now I want to put it on a laptop instead. IIRC XP pro let me do this with no issues (and that was an OEM version). It's no big secret that Microsoft is trying to crack down on piracy with Vista and Win 7, so I decided to research a little before attempting this less I get blacklisted and run into real problems. I've found as many different answers as I've done searches. They've ranged anywhere from "yes," to "you can with Home Premium Family Pack," to "no," or even, "yes with a call to MS."

So, my question is:

Can I do this? If so what will this mean for my old machine? Will I have to revert it back to XP or can I run on both machines?

P.S. We're talking activation here. I know that I can install it on both machines, but that's pointless if you cannot activate it.

Thanks in advance for any and all responses. Links to applicable threads or resources are greatly appreciated.

One lic. One computer.

So yes you would have to revert the other computer back to XP.

If you are looking for a ways to violate this rule look else where.

Easy there, I just wanted a little info. Thanks by the way. Everyone isn't looking for ways to steal software. You could have done without that last comment.
