Windows 7 Print Spooler keeps stopping

I have an HP 1020 that seems to run properly for a few months on Windows 7 then for some arbitrary reason the print spooler stops working. I tried restarting the spooler but as soon as I send a print command the spooler stops. It is set to automatic in services.

The last time this happened I had to reinstall Windows 7 and it worked fine for about 3 months, now it is happening again. This leads me to believe this is software and not hardware related.

Does anyone know of a fix? I looked on the net but could not find a fix. Don't want to reinstall now only to have to do it again next month when the final version ships.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is there anything logged in the Event Viewer when the spooler terminates? (It may be called something else in Windows 7, I don't have that OS.)
