Tomorrow should be the start of Windows 7 pre orders for the full versions of Windows 7 Home Premium E and Business E (these versions don't come bundled with an internet browser).

Prices should be £49.99 for the UK and ?49.99 for the Eurozone for Home Premium, and £99.99 / ?99.99 for Business.

Places like Amazon will be offering the pre order versions and they should be up tomorrow for any Europeans who want copies.
If you are in the US you might want to try and find a European friend to order for you because these prices work out to be $70~$80 for a full copy of Windows 7 Home Premium!

That is really cheap. I wonder what the retail price will be after the promotion period?

Is the new Windows going to be significantly better at running the existing application base? Office 2007, games, Explorer, Firefox, for example. or will it break everything?

With the upgrade disc is it possible to slipstream a disc so I don't have to install older OS then install UG

Why? Are you planning to camp there for a few months? Win7 isn't released yet.

"This program begins Friday, June 26 in the US, Canada, and Japan. It goes on while supplies last or until July 11 in the US and Canada..."

Ya, plus the deal isn't one do only or anything. I'm just gonna buy mine tomorrow from the Micro$oft site.

Wondering this also. Just want to have it like XP upgrades and have it just verify I have the disc.

Any hope? Or will there be an upgrade trick where you upgrade from an unactivated version of Win7?

I partitioned my main drive & set it up to dual boot between Vista & 7. After I got 7 installed, I had to reinstall my key for Vista.
Dunno if that's what you were asking or not, tho. :)

Sucks there's no preorder deal for ultimate. I think if you're going from ultimate vista to win7 pro you have to do a fresh install.

I have Vista Home Premium OEM version. Can I use the $50 upgrade, or does that only work if you have retail Vista?

Going from XP to Win7 is clean install only, so presumably you will just verify the disc like in the past.

I don't see why not. It would be dump of microsoft to block oem user from buying retail upgrade discs.

Answers to many of these questions are in the article the OP so kindly linked to :).

Windows XP users need to know that regardless of which edition they currently have installed (Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, or Windows XP Media Center Edition) and regardless of which edition of Windows 7 they are moving to (Home Premium, Professional , or Ultimate), they will need to perform a clean install, whether they buy the upgrade or full version. The hassle of backing up applications and user data will fall on the user; a clean install will not back up anything. Using Windows Easy Transfer, users can copy their important files and settings to an external USB stick, external hard drive, or DVD, and then move the data back after the installation
