I noticed the Windows Experience Index is finally functioning on my build 7000 machine. My score sits a solid 1.0 on the scale. What is yours? Be sure to post the printables!

I'm on my Vista partition right now, but my Win7 score is 5.5 with the system in the sig. The RAM is holding my back, then my HDD at 5.9.

Mine is 5.9 with my C2D E2140 @ 3.2, HD4850, 4GB DDR2-800, 640GB WD HD.

link

Edit: If you're getting better than 5.9 on the HD and memory, then please share what kind of config that you have. Because my WD 6400AAKS is one of the fastest HDs out there.
Edit: You guys must have Core i7 rigs with triple-channel DDR3, and Velociraptors for HDs. That's the only way I can figure you're beating these scores.

6.0 with HD being 6 and then 6.8 for gaming graphics...7.2 for processor and RAM

I just used the printable view option. It allowed me to cut&paste everything but the graphic.

same,but its the speed or quantity of RAM which matters?

According to: http://www.techarp.com/showart....aspx?artno=622&pgno=2

...the answer to that is "Both". Apparently it calculates Throughput first, same as Vista does, which means the speed of the entire subsection rather than the speed of the DIMMS themselves. Once that's done, the score is then limited by how much RAM is installed.

I'm wondering what kind of HD performance is needed to get a 7-8 on that score. Even RAID doesn't give that high a score.

From the article linked above:

a) Retain the existing sequential read performance scale.

b) Cap the Disk score for storage systems with a poor write flush policy regardless of the system?s other performance parameters.

The cap set in the Windows 7 preview build (6801) was 2.8.
Based on analysis of lab runs over expanded set of hardware, there are two caps for Beta:
At 1.9, this corresponds to having either
- IOs greater than 600 milliseconds, or
- mean IO >= 22milliseconds and 95th percentile IO >= 40 milliseconds
At 2.9, this corresponds to either
- IOs greater than 520 millseconds
- Mean IO >= 11 milliseconds and 95th percentile IO >= 33 milliseconds
c) 5.0 to 5.9 represents disks with a good sequential read performance and a good write flush policy. Most mechanical drives are expected to show performance that is rated under 5.9.

d) 6.0 to 6.9 represents the expected performance for storage devices that have very good random I/O performance.
- Note that most currently shipping devices in this class score in the 6.0 to 6.5 range. As faster devices reach the market, they can achieve 6.6 and higher.

e) 7.0 to 7.3 maps to the best performing, currently shipping devices in terms of sequential and random I/O performance.
- We expect that over the 2010 and 2011 time frame, drives will dramatically increase in performance, so have left plenty of room in the 7.0 range for these devices.
- Devices in the 7.0 range can sustain high rates of both random and sequential I/O.

So the answer to your question as to what it takes to get full marks is "Drives MSFT think will become available in the next two years"
