I just bought my first ssd, a samsung 840 120gb and i was wondering which windows i should install on it. I have access to both OS's and dont mind the windows 8 interface at all, i guess my question is which os would take more advantage of the SSD aswell as consume less overall drive space for the OS itself.

I have 7 and 8 installs on SSD. Space seems to be about the same on both. 8 seems slower to me. It boots 5-6 seconds quicker, but then I have to wait 10 seconds to do anything once I see the desktop. 7 is instantly usable once the desktop appears.

Due to Media Center issues with live TV on Win 8, I'm sticking with 7. I have no need for a touchscreen based interface on my desktop anyways.

I would go with Win8,newer with improved security plus more features and you already tried and don't mind it,as for WMC I use it for digital live TV in UK,no issues over here :) .

8. Better security, lots of under the hood improvements to performance and stability.

Another vote for Win8 for the security goodies under the hood. StartIsBack is another good start-menu replacement to try out, there's a free trial.

Thanks for all the replies, went with 8 for the better security. Base os with updates and nothing else is 25gb or so.
