Windows 7 on new Motherboard

I am in the process of setting up a new system. I had already installed Windows 7 64bit, and some of the drivers when the motherboard died. I had not had the chance to activate Windows yet. I replaced the motherboard with a different brand that had the same chipset (new= Asus P7P55D-E, old = Gigabyte GA-P55-UDL2). All other hardware is the same. After putting everything together Windows started with only a warning about the graphics driver not being installed correctly.

My questions are as follows:
- Will Window work properly if I simply install the divers on the disk that came with the new motherboard, or should I reinstall the OS?
- When I decide to activate Windows, which hardware profile does the OS use? Is it the profile as it was when I 1st installed Widows (with the old motherboard), or does it use the configuration as it is at the time of activation?

Thanks in advance

I don't see any point to reinstalling, especially since the motherboards were basically the same. I treat "pre activation" installs of Windows as "tests installs." What happened to you is precisely why I recommend you delay activation until you know everything is working correctly.

The disk drivers could very well be older than the Windows 7 drivers that loaded automatically. I would say don't fix something that is not broken. If you want the latest drivers, go to very websites and download them.

Thanks! I just finished. Installed drivers and activated with no problem.
