Windows 7 Media Player Stutters near end

Since changing from XP to Windows 7, clean install on new HD windows media player stutters about 20 seconds from the end of a track. Also the boot up has increased by 30 secs.

The two most common fixes on the net are disable enhancements in sound options and update driver for AC97 sound. Both of these do not cure the problem.

It's the only issue I have with Windows 7 upgrade.. and it's driving me mad.

Any one found a fix that works?

I solved this by buying a cheap but good quality PCI sound card £13, $10 using the C-media sound chip.

No skipping and no long boot up, well worth the change.

Conclusion the Realtek driver is the cause.
