Trying out Windows 7 on my MediaCenterPC. Looks nice runs well but there is an issue. I have 2 folders that contain most of my media. One with movies and one with TV show rips. After installing a codec pack all the files play, however, I can only get the files to work if I add the "tvshows" folder to the movie library. If I add the "tvshows" folder to either the TV or Video sections it doesnt detect the files, only the movie library does.

The way that it enumerates the files it mixes all the episodes with movies so its very cumbersome to find a particular show or movie. Is there something special I have to do to make either the recorded tv or video options find my show rips?

edit:

Or at least make it acknowledge the folder stucture vs just pulling out every file in one large lump.

I find that WMP tries to be too "gee whiz." Use the Menu Toolbar. Then do it the old fashioned way . . . File/drill to folder/open folder, then when you have the music do a Ctrl A and open all. The whole album will play nicely. Forget about libraries and playlists and all that nonsense. Use the Explorer functions built into the Menu system

How do you have your tv shows? Are they Video_ts folders or did you convert them? I made a tv shows folder and put a mp4 file in it and i can see Video Library has 2 folders, 1 says tv shows the other says movies. Have you tried mediabrowser as well?
