Windows 7 is not genuine

I have this message on a machine.

I'm pretty sure it is genuine, actually. How to fix it?

without much info, ill just take a shot in the dark.

from my experience, most failed activations are a result of the user not going through the WGA process.

click start button, click control panel, and open 'system'. scroll down and read what it tells you about windows activation. if there is a link that says "go online to get help" or whatever, do that. it will take you to the WGA authentication page and once you do those steps you will have a genuine machine.

You know, the Microsoft Tax appears to be far higher than the apple tax. A legit copy of Win 7 runs $200! Holy moly.

Depends upon where and when you buy it, of course. And, Apple more than makes up that "tax" difference on the cost of the hardware.

FYI, Newegg has OEM Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on sale today for $119.99. You have to be subscribed to their to their newsletter to get this price; otherwise, it is $139.99.

Students get it for $30, or did. Otherwise around $100-120 is normal for a Win 7 copy.
