Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 is crashing on me. It happened last night and again this afternoon. I have a couple files under c:\windows\minidump. I don't know how to open them. Windows suggested asking the web and that took me to MS. They didn't know.
I tried using Notepad, but that failed as well. The files have an extension of .dmp. Even if I could open them, I don't know if I could understand well enough to act.
I was in msconfig.exe the other day. I might have touched something there. I remember seeing Microsoft Filewall with a checkmark and it said status stopped. Because I use Nortons NIS, I believe I unchecked it. Then thinking about it, I put the check back and the status, I believe, said stopped. I just did a review of msconfig, and it say the status of Microsoft Firewall is running.
The only other changes that I remember making were to Startup. I unclicked PureSych and AdobeReader.
Suggestions?
