Windows 7 Home/Pro prod. key question

I installed Windows 7 Pro on my wifes laptop awhile ago using my copy i bought but could never activate it for obvious reasons. If we purchase Windows 7 Home version for her will that product key work since the Pro has a few more things it is able to do over the Home version?
 
Nope, it will Not activate, it is not a price issue, each product level has its own key scheme.
