So i have installed windows 7 build 7077. Must say I like it so far..very pretty and some nice things upgraded. I still think its all just a little show tho, for as soon as you start to digg down into menues its clear that its basically the same OS as XP.

Anyway...On making it the best performance..

w7 found my video card fine which was great! all devices in the device manager are found. I was wondering if I need to download anymore drivers or things for my chipset to make it run smoother. As it is it seems to be having some trouble with games. I know its a beta, but as it is a fresh intsall I thought it would be able to handle TF2. I have an old PC but when it had XP it was able to run it..meh ok.

Anyway any help is greatly appretiated!

I would download the latest chipset drivers for your mobo and the latest drivers for your video card. (both from the manufacturers websites)

note: You can use Vista drivers if they dont have a specific Windows 7 driver for your hardware.
 
So I tried looking for an update for my video card.

I have a laptop with a quadro 120M nvidia card. It does not seem that the NVS drivers work for my card for either vista or windows 7. I hear that drivers for geforce cards would actually work for my card, nvidia just doesn't allow it, but i have not found a step by steop process to change the inf to let me do so.

Same thing goes for the chipset.

Should i just go back to xp for now?
 
I would say if your games/apps dont run well in 7 and do run well in xp. Then use xp. Or upgrade

you didnt give anystats for your computer either.

As for your drivers, did you try what Windows Update threw at you? It's actually been pretty good at throwing good drivers my way lately.

 
on my first attempt windows detected everyting however i still installed motherboard/chipset drivers and after that everthing was down hill. I reformatted and left all the default drivers that windows found installed except i installed atis 9.4 drivers made for windows 7 and everything has worked perfectly.
